About Us
Fort Wayne Native Garden Company began with a love for native plants and a desire to help more people experience the beauty of native gardening. Our work focuses on creating intentional gardens that support pollinators, birds, and the overall health of our local ecosystem. We believe healthy gardens should support the life around them. That’s why we do not use commercial pesticides or herbicides in our practices.
Arty is a lover of all things living, and has been gardening since she was about 8 years old with her dad in their backyard.
She went on to become a personal gardener in the mountains of Northern California for a variety of clients, tending large operations to intimate gardens, caring for annuals, perennials and shrubs. After that, she worked as a Horticulture Specialist for a family owned nursery for several seasons, where she took special care in the Butterfly Host Project, specializing in tending host plants that butterflies need to eat and lay eggs. Arty also worked repairing stone paths at a meditation garden in California.
Arty has never used commercial pesticides or herbicides for insect and weed control. She has a wide knowledge of natural remedies such as incorporating beneficial plants to repel insects and natural methods of pest removal.
Arty has fallen in love with the native plants of Northeast Indiana and has learned how to tend for them so they can thrive, adding reliable beauty to your garden and feeding local pollinators and birds.
She can't wait to care for your gardens and bring your dream projects to life, whether it's adding more native plants to your garden, removing invasive plants, tending to your vegetable garden or installing stone garden paths.
Let us work with nature for you, bringing to life not just plants, but birds, butterflies and more!
Nathan is a Fort Wayne local, born and raised. His love for gardening began in his childhood backyard, where he transformed a patch of grass into a thriving tomato and pepper garden. He later spent time on the West Coast, where he fell in love with hiking, identifying local plants, and bird watching.
Since moving back to Fort Wayne, Nathan has enjoyed time identifying local native plants and birds while transforming his own property from grass into a pollinator paradise. He also enjoys woodworking, craftsmanship, and working with tools.
Nathan helps keep our supply of native plants in stock by sourcing plants from trusted local businesses, supporting the mission of creating more pollinator-friendly spaces throughout the community. He can’t wait to help create yours!
